Joelle earned her BA from Mount Holyoke College, her BFA in painting at the San Francisco Art Institute and her MFA at the Yale University School of Art, and worked as a senior style editor at Martha Stewart Living before opening Purl Soho in 2002. What began as a tiny New York yarn shop has grown into a beloved online source for exceptional yarns and inspiring design. Joelle is committed to creating yarns from fibers chosen with care, spun with intention, and dyed in nuanced, painterly colors, and designing knitting patterns that celebrate those beautiful yarns, inviting knitters to make something lasting and find joy in the process.
