Purl Soho Pullover In Plenty
With its soft, rolled edges and perfect fit, the Purl Soho Pullover reminds us that some things are called essentials for a reason. For working nine to five, dressing to the nines, or just getting ready in five minutes, this sweater is an essential essential!

The Purl Soho Pullover, now with separate patterns for kids and adults, is knit in the round from the bottom up with a set-in sleeve construction that eases into flattering saddle shoulders. It all ends in a beautiful rolled-edge collar that’s sure to keep you warm.

We’re returning to this classic Purl Soho pattern for a little update in order to offer more adult sizes and because we couldn’t resist knitting it up in our super-duper soft Plenty.

One hundred percent extra fine merino with a distinctive spin and very lively bounce, Plenty knits up into a plump, smooth fabric… like a cozy blanket you can actually wear out into the world!

Designed by Purl Soho founder and co-owner, Joelle Hoverson.

This is one of the best sweater patterns ever! I’ve made three adult versions of it in Worsted Twist. It’s modern sensibility gives it multi-generation appeal. I am so happy to see this pattern sized for children. I can’t wait to knit it up in Plenty.
How would you rate the difficulty level of this sweater, for someone who has not done anything more complicated than cowls
Hi Karen,
Thanks for reaching out! That is a great question, I think this pattern would actually be great as someone’s first sweater! The construction is very simple and straightforward, there are a few more advanced techniques but luckily we have a great collection of tutorials to help you along the way. You can find our tutorials here: Knitting Tutorials.
We are also happy to help at any point! You can reach out to us here, you can email our customer service team directly at customerservice@purlsoho.com or you can even set up a free 1 on 1 zoom appointment with one of our customer service specialists! For appointments click here!
I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any more questions!

Many thanks Gianna, that was very helpful-Karen
It says there is errata and when you go to the errata I can’t find the same under Purl Soho Pullover for Adults. Can you help me out here. Thank you
Hi Renate!
Thank you for your question. The errata we have for this pattern is for a previous version of this sweater (Purl Soho Pullover in Worsted Twist), however this version in Plenty is corrected with the updates!
I hope this helps!
All the best,
Margaret
Hi! I love your (seamless) patterns. I live far away and need to use approximations with materials, and I got two options for this pattern. The one whose colour I prefer does not fit the gauge, though. So, I have a question – do you think I could just follow the instructions for a larger size (the gauge for this yarn is 24×32 on needle size 2.5 (3mm))? I thought the largest one would fit the basic CO. I am worried if there could be a problem at a later point.
Hi Mirna,
Thanks for reaching out. That is the solution I would recommend if you want to use the yarn whose color you like better!
Here’s how to figure out which size to make: First, make a gauge swatch in pattern with your intended yarn and needles (which you’ve already done!). Once you know how many stitches you’re getting per inch (6 stitches per inch, according to your gauge), multiply that number by the chest circumference measurement for your original size. Then, compare the resulting number to the stitch counts around the body of each size, which are as follows: 136 (154, 170, 188, 204) (222, 238, 256, 272). The size that comes closest is the one you should make!
Once you’ve chosen the best size, everything else will go smoothly!
All the best,
Lili
I love this pattern. I just finished my second one, this time for MOI! I’d like to make two adjustments to the finished sweater: the neckline just sits in a tight roll and doesn’t fall like the cowl in the photo. I was thinking of redoing the bindoff very loosely–or should I do something else?
Also, the sleeves came out a little too long. Can I just unravel a little from the bottom and then bind off? Will that work? Let me know. Thanks so much.
Hi Ellen,
Great questions! For tight bind-offs, I always recommend redoing them with a larger needle size (two or so sizes up should do the trick). That way, the needle itself will make sure that you bind off loosely without you having to try to hard to do so on your own!
And yes, you can absolutely unravel the sleeves until they’re you’re desired length and bind off at the cuffs!
All the best,
Lili
