Coziest Blanket Ever in New Colors
If you want to wrap yourself in the softest, warmest, most wonderful fabric you can find, cast on our lively Fiddlehead and knit the Coziest Blanket Ever!

You knit this simple rectangle on the bias, casting on at one corner and using simple increases to shape the blanket for the first half, then decreases for the second half.

Our extraordinary Fiddlehead brings joy wherever it goes, with an over-the-top softness that comes from its 100% alpaca fiber.

Take a look and you see Fiddlehead’s unique structure, with two strands of roving rippling along alpaca threads, creating waves of texture similar to a bouclé.

These waves also create lots of cozy spaces that trap air, insulating you and making Fiddlehead incredibly warm and wondrously light.

Each color of Fiddlehead has two shades of roving, creating a beautifully marled fabric with a subtle depth of color.

With eight new colors of Fiddlehead to choose from, you can make your blanket in the color that sparks a little joy for you or for someone you love. Maybe bright and spirited Pink Azalea or rich and decadent Chocolate Truffle?

Whatever the color, pick up six skeins for a crib-sized blanket or twelve for a throw and get the coziest ever!

Does it take 12 or 13 skeins to make the throw size? Both numbers are listed in the instructions 🙏🏼
Hi Jessi,
Thank you for pointing that out! The throw only takes 12 skeins, and we’ve gone ahead and corrected the place where we wrote 13. Eek, we’re sorry for the confusion!
Best,
Whitney
Hey there I am planning to knit this a two color stripe. Would you advise switching color every other row? Thanks!
Hi Margaret,
That’s going to be such a pretty blanket! I would recommend switching color every other row. That way the working yarn for the next color will always be there on the same edge when you need to switch. If you end up making your striped blanket, we’d love to see how it turns out!
All the best,
Lili
For a full size throw, do I need to buy 6 skeins of each color or 12?
Hi Cathie,
Thanks for writing in! The Throw size version of this blanket requires 12 skeins in total!
All the best,
Lili
Is there a loose cardigan pattern that would work with this yarn?
Hello,
Thanks for reaching out! We haven’t designed any cardigan patterns for Fiddlehead yet, but you may be interested in our Curlicue Pullover. This pattern pairs Fiddlehead with Plenty for an extra cozy winter garment!

Would this be considered a quick knit? Seems a great holiday gift, but don’t want to be panicking on the 24th!!
Hi Cait,
I’m afraid that it’s pretty difficult to come up with an estimate like this since every knitter knits at a different speed! It would also depend on what size (crib or throw) of the blanket you’re planning to knit. In my personal experience though, it generally takes me about a month to knit a throw size blanket!
All the best,
Lili
Greetings Jessi,
I’d like to make this blanket to fit a Twin XL bed. How many skeins do I need? What adjustments do I need to make in the pattern.
Thank you.
Miriam
Hi Miriam,
It looks like the standard blanket dimensions for a twin XL bed are 66 by 95 inches. Does that sound like how large you want to knit your blanket? If so, you’d need about 37 skeins of Fiddlehead to complete it, and the modifications would be as follows:
Work the BEGIN + INCREASE section until the blanket measures 66 inches along each edge. Then, work the CONTINUE section until the blanket measures 95 inches along the longest edge. And finally, work the CONTINUE + DECREASE section as written!
All the best,
Lili
Hello & happy Thanksgiving! I have a quick question regarding the instructions Under begin & increase you say to repeat rows 2 & 3 57 more times for the throw. Do you mean 57 rows or 57 sets of 2 rows? Thanks!
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for writing in! That instruction means you’ll repeat both Rows 2 and 3 57 times, for a total of 114 rows!
All the best,
Lili
When looking at the different colors, the Heirloom white looks very white yet the other pictures it looks more ecru. Which is it? Thank you!
Hi Marianne,
Thanks for reaching out to ask! Heirloom White is a warm off-white color; definitely closer to white than ecru, but not a “bright” white. We try our hardest to make our website photos as true to life as possible, but there is always a chance that they vary slightly due to different lighting conditions. We’re always happy to describe any color in more depth though, and we also offer color cards for almost all of our yarn lines if you want to see any up close!
All the best,
Lili
Hello. In the BEGIN&INCREASE section you say to repeat the rows 1&2 47 times. So is that a total of 47 rows or a total of 94? Thanks!
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for writing in! You’re repeating both Row 1 and Row 2 forty-seven times, so it’ll be 94 rows in total!
All the best,
Lili
