Welcome to the New Purl Bee!
Welcome to the new Purl Bee! As you can see, we’re looking a whole lot fresher! We’ve also reorganized the way our readers (you!) navigate and explore the Purl Bee neighborhood. Throw away the map, because now, with easy-to-spot pictures and logical intersections, you’ll get where you’re going without having to pull over and ask directions!
Since there’s inspiration around every corner, wandering the streets of the Purl Bee is now more fun than ever too! Let’s get oriented… At the top of most of our pages, you’ll see a beautiful banner of images (on the homepage these photos are of our most recent posts). Be sure to press the left and right arrows to view even more gorgeous pictures!
On the Purl Bee homepage, below the banner you’ll always find Recent Projects, a gallery of click-able photos of our eight latest projects. Under that, you’ll see From the Archives, a specially curated collection of past projects; next, an ever-changing compilation of Things We Love (you’ll love them too!); and finally, what we’re currently coveting with our Shop Products at Purl Soho feature.
Plus, have fun browsing all of our projects, tutorials and products with pull-down menus along the top of every page. And if you ever get lost, just click on the three gray lines in the upper left corner of every page and you’ll find more roads that take you where you want to go!
You’ll also find that the Purl Bee has been newly designed for your mobile devices, now giving you easy access wherever you are… Standing in Purl Soho, for instance, facing a wall of Liberty of London fabrics and wondering how many yards you need for our Kid’s Gathered Summer Top. Now you’ll know in a snap!
Our redesigned site feels like the perfect occasion to thank our readers, without whom there would be no Purl Bee! So now when you subscribe to Purl Soho’s fun and informative newsletter, you’ll be able to choose a Purl Soho Pattern to download for FREE. This applies to both first-time and long-time subscribers (and everyone in between!). Click here to get started!
Change is hard for all of us, but rest assured, you’ll still find all the fabulous free needlecraft patterns and helpful tutorials that have always been here. In fact, the new Purl Bee is the same… Only better!
Wondering what are the tantalizing projects pictured here? At the top of the page is our classic Railroad Tote; then our Open Air Wrap; next our Striped Summer Sweater; and right above here, our wonderfully summer-y Breezy Friendship Bracelets. Love the new site! It’s so pretty and easy to navigate! 🙂
Hi. I’m a long-time reader of the Purl Bee and really appreciate your work to bring us beautiful ideas and patterns and projects.
The new site looks lovely. But… the enormous fixed header takes up 2/5ths of my page. 🙁
I have a PC with a 12″ screen and can now only see a small part of each (beautiful) photo at a time. The drop-down menu at the far left disappears off the bottom of my screen and I can’t scroll down to see what, if anything, is below “Archives”. Is there a clever resizing trick I should be using? (Hmm, or do I need to buy a new laptop?)
Thanks for any help or advice. And thanks again for a lovely site!
Hi L-
I’m so sorry that you’re having this problem. As you scroll down the large photo header should disappear and the text header should become smaller! The site has been optimized so that it should be easy to view even on a phone so your laptop shouldn’t be a problem! Would you mind trying to load the site on some different web browsers? If you’re still having problems please email me directly at Molly AT purlsoho DOT com with some screenshots of what is going on and we can try to get to the bottom of it!
Thanks so much for getting in touch about this!
Molly
Hi, thanks for replying – have to agree with the other commenter about how kind and gracious you all are when it comes to the comments! 🙂
A couple of screenshots are coming your way, hope they’re useful…
Thanks for your help.
Wow—love the new site! Well done!
Beautiful! Well done!
Wow, THAT looks nice! I love to come here to get some inspiration and always leave refreshed and well prepared to get out my needles or my sewing machine. Thank you so much for this!
PS. To me the pics look a little bit to huge and use a lot of screen space (I have to scroll a bit to see each one as a whole). But I guess that’s what makes it more modern too for many sites use those giant pictures…) Anyway; love the design and am so grateful for all the ideas and helpful hints you share with us all over the world!

The new site is fantastic, but I want to comment on something you’ve always been really good at: thoughtful, patient and intelligent responses to comments and questions (and complaints). Not only are you all very helpful, you’re always gracious.
Hi Cristina-
Thank you so much for this kind comment, it means a lot!
So glad to hear you like the new site!

Love the new site, and always enjoy looking around at some of your neat projects.
Only one “con” – the eyes are getting old, and it would be even nicer if your “type” was darker.
Thanks again.
What a wonderful site. Many websites fail to improve when they are updated, but you have managed to take what was a great website and turn it into a stellar one. Thank you very much.
I love your new site. Thank you for remembering us your already faithful subscribers in your free pattern offers. Thanks, too, for all of your fabulous projects.
Gorgeous
Wow the redesign is great. I’ve been a secret reader for sometime now and have been waiting eagerly for you to put up new content. I am about to put together my summer sewing list (I’m in Australia so our seasons are upside down to yours). 🙂
Love the new site, it’s simply gorgeous on my iPhone and so easy to use. Perfect timing with the great new blanket project! I’m a knitter/newbie sewer just getting ready to unbox my sewing machine so I can’t wait to dive into a beautiful purl bee project. Looking forward to seeing what’s next.
The site is really fantastic, so beautiful and clever. Loved the change.
🙂
Beautiful. Gorgeous. But the functionality will take some getting used to. I was having an issue navigating the site but realized it was because when I’m working and my window is too small the banner shifts up and effectively hides the links at the top. I have a 15″ Macbook and to be able to see those links I have to open the window so that it covers over two-thirds of my screen.
Hi Christie-
I’m so sorry to hear that you’re having this problem! Would you mind sending me a screenshot of what you’re talking about so that I can send it on to our tech folks? My direct email is Molly AT purlsoho DOT com.
Thank you!

Love the new site. Bright, clean and easy to navigate. To answer some of those navigating situations, at the top of your page to the far right of the url space, there is a tool bar (mine has 3 bold lines) that should get you to your settings. You can go to the zoom part and go larger or smaller. I know you will have smaller pics and print, but you’ll be able to see everything. Good luck. Thanks again, Purl Soho for the lovely blog.
Hi! it looks beautiful, but i found more easy to find the old one… p.ex it was divided it baby project women etc…
but for sure will get use to it ! i love absolutelly your projects!!
thank you !
Hi Kamila-
We hear you but we are confident that once you get used to it this site will be even easier to navigate! If you go to the top bar where it says “knit, sew, crochet, embroider…” and click on your craft of choice you’ll get a pull down menu that is organized into broad categories. If you hover on one of those categories you’ll see the sub categories. For instance, if you go to “knit” then hover over “garments” you’ll see the “babies, women’s and men’s” garment categories. Click on one of those sub categories to find a gallery of those projects!
You can also search via tags. For instance: If you’re in a baby post and would like to see more baby projects you can click on the “Babies” tag which will be listed to the right of the story’s title.
I hope this helps a bit! If you have any more questions please write us back!

New site has some pros and cons. Lots of beautiful new images, but I’m finding the navigation to patterns kind of confusing. Where are all the great Purl patterns? I’ve been finding plenty of Brooklyn Tweed patterns, but so far none of the beautiful options that were on the old site . . . unless I’m just not spotting them.
My first explorations into the site have taken me loads of time to find what I”m looking for. When I’m in a hurry that’s bad, when I have a lot of leisure time, I don’t mind poking around.
thanks,
Madge
Hi Madge-
All of our old patterns are still on the site and available! You can find them by clicking on the categories at the top of the site (Knit, Sew, Crochet etc…) Or by clicking on the Tags, which are at the upper right of each story. You can also use the search bar at the top right.
Please let us know if there’s any specific patterns you’re looking for and we can point you in the right direction!
Thank you!
Molly
which country are you located?
Hi Patience-
We are in the USA.
Thanks!
Molly
Hi – What URL should I use to add the new blog to my RSS reader? My reader currently ends with the last post, leaving me to think there’s a new URL? Thanks.
Hi Stephanie-
Great question! (I was having the same issue- so annoying!) Anyway, here is the link you should use: https://www.purlsoho.com/create/feed/
Thank you!
Molly
Yep, my RSS feed stopped with the 7/25/2014 post, and I only just realized (in December!) that I was missing new Purl Bee posts. I wish websites would push out one last post through the old feed with a link to the new RSS address before they make the switch so that followers can follow seamlessly.
Same here!
On this page there is an image of a top or cowl beside the summer kids top but no reference to the knit pattern on the page.
Can you help?
Also do I have to search this post for an answer or will I get an email?
Hi Deion-
That is our Tulip Tank Top and you can see the pattern here: https://www.purlsoho.com/create/2014/06/27/lauras-loop-tulip-tank-top/
Thanks for your question!
Molly
Several years ago I started the sideways garter vest found on purlbee.com It is (past) time for me to finish the project but I cannot figure out where I am. Do you still have the pattern with a picture of the completed vest? In the pattern I have, I chose one color rather than the two in one of the pictures. That must be part of my confusion. Suggestions?
Hi Lori,
Thanks for reaching out! You can find the original post with the Sideways Garter Vest pattern right here. I hope this helps you finish up your project!
All the best,
Lili
