Easy Pullover for Babies, Toddlers + Kids in New Yarns!
There are few things in life that you can rely on over and over: sunrises, sunsets, singing birds, barking dogs. Let’s add to the list our Easy Pullover for Babies, Toddlers + Kids, a Purl Soho classic so reliable that we can’t stop knitting it up in as many yarns as possible!
This year we knit it in three different Purl Soho yarns, starting with the lightweight Cattail Silk in Rabbit Ear Pink (above). Perfect for tossing in a bag in case the wind kicks up, this version is sized for toddlers but is just right for babies and kids, too!
In Line Weight (above), the Easy Pullover keeps little ones warm and cozy. This one is baby size and uses the toasty color Ginger Orange. And the three-season Linen Quill in Oatmeal Gray (below, here sized for 4-year-olds) is perhaps the most versatile, cozy in fall, cool in spring.
But it’s not only the timeless styling and the range of yarn possibilities that put this sweater over the top. It’s, well, its over-the-top construction: knit in one piece from the bottom back, up and over to the bottom front. It has sleeves you fold up or not, a nice, wide neck opening that barely grazes baby’s head, and a loose, comfy fit. It’s a sweater your baby, toddler, or kid will wear like a reliable old friend!
P.S. No matter which of these yarns you choose, you don’t have to change the gauge or needle size of the original pattern… Phew!

Hi Liz,
Thanks for writing in! Unfortunately, most of the little ones in the Purl family are a bit too big now to model this lovely sweater. We do, however, have a photo of one of the adorable little ones in the Purl family wearing the original sweater that can be found on the original post (https://www.purlsoho.com/create/2012/01/12/easy-pullover-for-babies-toddlers-and-kids/). There are also many pictures of little ones wearing this sweater on Ravelry!

Too bad this doesn’t have an adult sized pattern. It just doesn’t look like a baby or toddler style.

yes.. an adult pattern would be amazing!! I love this little sweater.. Would make several for myself!
I, too, love these baby/toddler sweaters and was all set to download pattern + yarn when I noticed that as an adult I’m not eligible. If you are making a list of grown-up knitters who would love to make this pullover, please add my name.
Hi Nancy!
Thanks for your feedback! I will be sure to pass this along.

My first thoughts when I looked at this sweater, which I really liked, were exactly like yours. It looks like an adult sweater and too bad they don’t have it in adult sizes as well.
Just another of many who thinks this would make an awesome sweater for big people.
Hi Anne,

Hello Laura,
Thank you for writing us! This is a fantastic suggestion. As a small company, we haven’t yet had the resources to offer the scope of sizes we would like to, but as our company grows, we have been steadily expanding that range and plan to continue to do so!
Please be on the lookout, and thank you so much for adding your voice to this issue. We greatly appreciate your feedback!
Let us know if you have any further questions!
Happy knitting,

It’s been a few years since the above comments requesting adult versions of this sweater. Any progress on the requests? Adult female and male would be super appreciated, and knit up asap with your products!

Lee NZ
Hi Lee,
Thanks for reaching out! This pattern was designed for a fingering weight yarn, which I believe would be called 2-ply in UK terms and 3-ply in Australian terms. Hope this helps!
All the best,
Lili
I too, and one of the many who would love to see this pattern in a version for adults (especially women). Surely of all the talented people who are part of Purl Soho, someone would be able to convert this amazing pattern to an adult version?!
Hi JK,
Thanks for writing in! We love your idea of an adult version but unfortunately, we do not currently have plans to re-work this pattern into an adult size. Although we would love to bring this idea to life, we do not currently have the resources to do so. I will be sure to pass you message along to our team!
All the best,
Gavriella
