Pattern
With the first color, cast on 99 stitches. We used a basic Long Tail Cast On.
Row 1: *K1, p1, repeat from * to last stitch, k1.
Repeat Row 1 for each row until end of skein.
Change to the second color at the beginning of the next row and repeat Row 1 until end of skein.
Repeat with each color, making sure to always change colors on the same side.
When you are nearly finished with the ninth skein, bind off in pattern.
Weave in the ends and you’re finished!
Dear Purl Soho Team
You are great! Thanks for all tutorials, patterns and sharing your ideas. 🙂
I absoulutely love your projects. I’m just about to start knitting this wrap and I was wondering, if you could explain me what it exactly means to finish in pattern? And the second question, did you use a long tail cast on for this wrap?
Many thanks in advance!
Merima
Hello Merima,
Thank you so much for all these kind words! I would recommend using a long tail cast on for this project. As far as finishing, all this means is to cast off weave in your ends and block as desired!
I hope this makes sense- please let me know if i can clarify anything.
Warmly,
Marilla
Hello,
Are the colors shown here still available in a bundle?
Thank you,
Leila
Hi Leila,
Thanks for writing in! Sadly Peacock Blue, Desert Blue, and Ice Blue have all been retired and are no longer available. We do have a number of other lovely colors of Worsted Twist that have replaced them. We’d be happy to help you find a color combination that works for you!
Best,
Cassy
Hello,
Are there some blues that could replace the three that have been retired?
Leila
Hi Leila,
Thanks for writing back! While we do not have colors that will be a spot on replacement, I am happy to offer two alternative colorways that I think keep with the spirit of this lovely wrap! I would suggest:
Timeless Navy, Stillwater Blue, Faded Blue, Artemisia Green, Oyster Gray, Sea Salt, Heirloom White, Ballet Pink and Super Pink.
OR
Timeless Navy, Faded Blue, Artemisia Green, Oyster Gray, Sea Salt, Heirloom White, Ballet Pink, Peony Pink and Super Pink.
I hope that this helps!
Cassy
Hello! I’m a little more than halfway through my first skein and my seed stitch is getting a little hole-y. It started off nice and dense with no gaps but now some spaces are forming between the stitches. Anything you think I might be doing wrong/ recommendations for fixing this? Thanks!
Hi Serena,
Thanks for writing in! It sounds like you may have loosened up your personal gauge as you got comfortable with the stitch pattern. In these cases, I tend to rip out my work and start over with a smaller needle to get a more pleasing gauge!
I hope that this helps!
Cassy
Hi Cassy, thank you! I will try that out.
I have been coveting this wrap and this yarn for literally years. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered 7 skeins (I’m petite so I’m going to make a slightly smaller wrap). Just got my order and I am SO happy that I decided to treat myself. The colours are gorgeous and the yarn is so soft. I can’t wait to get started. Keep being awesome, Purl Soho!
If anyone is looking for a colourway similar to the original, I ended up going with Timeless Navy, Faded Blue, Oyster Grey, Sea Salt, Ballet Pink, Peony Pink, and Super Pink.
Hello!
I’m interested in making the worsted twist seed stitch wrap. Several of the colors were discontinued from the original suggested colors so I requested and received new suggestions. Now at least three of those are no longer available. I purchased three colors and was going to order the rest today, but no luck. I really wanted the blue to white to pink pattern. Can you give me another suggestion using the remaining available colors? I have the Heirloom White, Super Pink, and Peony Pink. I will order all colors as soon as I receive a response!
Thank you,
Leila
Hello Leila,
Thank you for writing us! Reviewing the colorway you wish to make I have tried to put together a transition you will be happy with. I would suggest; Wheat Flour, Artemisia Green, Ash Gray, and Stillwater Blue. If you are interested it looking for more Blue Options I would suggest looking at Manos Del Uruguay’s Maxima. This yarn is hand dyed so you will get a variegation when knitting it.
I hope this helps and happy knitting!

Can we use alpaca yarn as well?
Hi Cathy,
Thanks for reaching out! Yes, a worsted or aran weight alpaca would be lovely for this wrap!
Best,
Julianna
