Introducing Purl Soho’s Super Soft Merino!
We are so grateful to end this harrowing week with the happiest announcement we’ve had in a long time. Today Purl Soho launches our very own collection of yarn, starting with our super scrumptious Super Soft Merino!
A thick cloud of 100% Peruvian merino, Super Soft Merino is the dreamiest, cuddliest, toastiest yarn you can imagine. This loosely spun single ply knits up at a cozy 3 stitches to the inch, perfect for winter chills and quick gifts!
As readers of the Purl Bee know, our love for yarn is followed closely by our love for color! Creating a signature palette for our Super Soft Merino was unbelievably fun, like picking a bouquet of garden-fresh flowers. Our beautiful rainbow includes a dozen of our very favorite colors: Super Pink, Red Zinnia, Clementine Orange, Yellow Yellow, Extra Green, Desert Sky, Peacock Blue, Timeless Navy, Oyster Gray, Toasted Charcoal, Soft Black and Heirloom White.
Each skein is an ample 87 yards long. Want to start with a scarf? Just two skeins knit up into a beautifully classic scarf, or try three skeins for a luxuriously generous neck wrapper!
We have lots of Purl Bee patterns in the works, but we also can’t wait to see what you, our ingenious readers, create with Super Soft Merino. Big, cozy sweaters, sweeping wraps, dramatic cowls, cushiony baby blankets, sophisticated lap throws, and fabulous hats; monotone, stripes, ombre, fair isle, colorblocking, the possibilities are endless!
To celebrate this exciting venture and to get you super inspired, we’re having a…

We have two winners! Our first place winner is Lauren who plans to make “a big cushy cowl out of that light blue” (sounds beautiful to us!), and our second place winner is Valgerdur, all the way from Sweden! She has lots of plans for Super Soft Merino: “a warm winter sweater for my little boy, cowls for my sisters for Christmas or even a baby blanket for a friend´s unborn child.” We’re so happy for both Lauren and Valgerdur, and we thank all of our wonderful readers for commenting and sharing your enthusiasm! – Whitney
Oh, these colors are gorgeous! I'd make a shawl you can wrap around your head and shoulders to keep warm. I bet this yarn is super soft.
Thank you for this amazing opportunity. It's nearly too exciting. I had to read it twice!!
I have a pile of gifts to knit because I have a huge family and also a lot of friends in cold places; so I would knit up some gifts like: cozy cowls, neck-warmers, long fingerless gloves, and probably a big, yummy hat or 5. 🙂
Thank you!
Kat
I think a colorful skirt with cables. Beautiful bright hip colors. Love them.
Definately some wristies and little shawls with big emroidered flowers and dots. And if I won 10 skeins, maybe I'd knit my 3 year old son a little stuffed peacock!
I would make puppets for my children. A sun and a cloud maybe.. Something warm to sleep with ..! Thanks for the giveaway !
I'd knit a beautiful bright sweater to get me through the gloom of winter
I would make a pair of super soft mittens, to keep me warm in and bring some color to the dark Arctic winter night here in northern Norway 🙂
A warm and fuzzy cable sweater!!!
Hello,
What a lovely merino in vibrant colours. I would make a sweater for my husband with a lovely oyster grey and maybe a cosy warm neck warmer for me in clementine orange and toasted charcoal . Maybe a nice slouchy hat as well !
I would make one huge blanket out of desert blue, and it would be the awesomest blanket in the world.
I love merino! I would knit up a colourful patchwork style blanket for my baby's 2nd birthday next month. X
Wow! That yarn looks amazing! I'd definitely knit myself a nice warm cardi 🙂
Cheers!
So pretty colours!!!! I'm inspired to knit some cowls and warm blankets for the winter that's coming!
Ohhhh….these yarns remind of candy- I love the colors! I would knit my grand kiddos (4 of them) some super soft hats and mittens!
I think I would need to knit up a mitered square throw for my black leather couch … but I would likely use the yarn to make a pair of bright and cheery Christmas stockings for my daughter and her boyfriend who have just moved into a "grown up" apartment in Chicago … they're going to need some color during the gray winter up there!
It looks so soft! I'd like to knit super cozy cowl for my best friend who recently moved in a northern country!
I think I would make some oversized bed socks with these, possibly with a fair-isle motif. Those colours really pop next to each other! James
so nice colours! I would like to do a Super pink soft sweater for my little Anna and a Peacock Blue one for my older Pietro…
I would make an huge fluffy infinity cowl or maybe a brioche stitch scarf that would show off the stitch and the yarn. What a beautiful yarn and such great colors!
Wow! I was hoping to make it to NYC this weekend to stop in the shop, but sadly we can't make it! I would have loved to picked up a few skeins for MITTENS!!!!! Great news and best of luck!
I have been looking for the perfect yarn to make your bandana cowl. I think I found it!
For once, I would do something for myself… Big chunky scarf, ummmmmm….
I would make "big girl" hats for my 2-year old who will probably be jealous of all the gifts her new brother will be getting when he arrives in January. . .
I would love to make the big herringbone cowl for me and something as a Christmas gift for my fiance 🙂
Congratulations on this new venture! How exciting! I would make holiday gifts with this yarn – beautiful, colorful, soft cowls for everyone!
Your Blog is candy to my eyes…. just notice this "Super Soft Merino Giveaway" just started knitting about a year ago. So, i am very very new to all yarns…but WOW…these colors are so amazing and HAPPY TO just see … I would love to make a knitted hat… if i win… Thank you for your lovely blog too
Oh my … the colors are gorgeous … perfect for a warm and cosy poncho!!!
Two things come to mind: a beautiful chevron patterned lap blanket for a cozy, fireside quiet evening with hot chocolate in hand; and colorful pillows for a young child's room…maybe large enough to settle in for home movie-watching. Gorgeous!
What great colors. Hmmmm… the kids are well taken care of at the moment so I would knit something for myself!
No question. This wool is screaming to be made into a beautiful, cozy blanket.
The colors are wonderfully bright! They are sure to brighten a dreary winter day. I would knit a shawl or small afghan.
This yarn looks AMAZING. I would love to knit a bunch of it up into a log cabin-ish throw, my favorite handmade gift to give to my very favorite people. Thanks so much for the chance!

oh how I would love to knit the yarn up!
A big BOLD scarf for the predicted chilly winter!
Congrats! What happy colors. I could see a large scale needlepoint with blocks of vibrant color Mondrian-style. Thanks.
Gorgeous! I would make chunky hats and mittens for my favorite neighborhood kiddos!
I think a cowl in your perfect pink would suit me just fine.
This is screaming to be baby blankets for my soon-to-be-a-mom neighbour! Love the colours.
Congrats on the launch of Super Soft Merino! Such gorgeous, vibrant colors! Looks perfect for a Brioche Cowl. 🙂
With something so soft, I'd have to make something that could touch my skin – matching cowl & hat sounds perfect.
My goodness, so beautiful! I would make a lovely shawl for curling up while reading on these cool fall days. And then I'd make two more for my daughters.
I adore these colors! It makes me want to make a new vibrant baby blanket for our little baby boy due in February.
This yarn looks so luxurious. With this wave of cold weather hitting it is just the right time to start a bulky project. The bright colors might just help lighten up this time change. Dark by 5:00 makes me want to curl up with warm, squishy yarn.
Oh man! This yarn makes me want to knit a super soft sweater for my grouchy boyfriend. But more importantly finally dive into some fair isle and make myself something reminiscent of spring to keep me perky during the winter!!!
I would love to use this to knit some leg warmers for my sweet niece. The colors are gorgeous.
Oooh–lovely! I think a striped soft cowl would be lovely!
Those colors are so beautiful! I think this would be great yarn for a lap blanket to keep me warm and happy in the dark winter months.
I would make a big cuddly cowl or maybe a warm sweater for snuggling during the upcoming winter weather:). Those colors are so happy and warm.
Yummy! I'd love, LOVE some of this yarn! After I was done petting it, I would probably make it into a baby blanket or a sweater. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
I would make a warm chunky cowl to wear out horsebackriding this winter!
