Marbled Scarf
Our free Marbled Scarf crochet pattern is a beginner-friendly project that celebrates the natural color flow of our beautiful Estuary yarn. The yarn does all the work here, with hand-dyed color as full of life as the mingling of river and sea!

This simple scarf is effortless to crochet, just classic granny stripes… And yet watching the color play unfold is utterly captivating, as jewel-like double crochet clusters break up pools of color into shimmering eddies.

A fingering-weight single-ply yarn, Estuary is a unique blend of fine merino wool, mulberry silk, and linen that relaxes and blooms beautifully into a soft, fluid crocheted fabric. The silk glows with a precious luster; the linen adds a hint of rustic charm; and the merino provides warmth and softness… Together, they create a fabric that feels and looks enchanting!

Every shade in Estuary’s palette begins with a warm white yarn, which then gets hand-dyed with a wash of color that leaves light sand bars among deeper lagoons. We combined two shades, Pink Phlox and Prairie Turnip, their pink, taupe, and cream tones creating a mesmerizing marble effect. Try Prairie Turnip with any Estuary color for a similar painterly effect or mix any two colors in the palette to create your own confluence of intertwining currents, ever-changing yet harmonious.

Each stitch you crochet will reveal new depths of beauty, each row a new surprise. Because every skein of this hand-dyed yarn is one of a kind, no two scarves will ever be exactly alike… Your Marbled Scarf will be a singular expression of color and movement that only your hands can create!

I love the look of this scarf but I don’t crochet at all. Can you suggest one of your knitted scarf patterns that would also show the wonderful interplay between prairie turnip and one of the variegated colors?
Hi Jacqueline!
We’re so happy you love the look of this pattern! I’d recommend our Simple Stockinette Scarf or the Dotty Wrap for some great knit alternatives!
Happy knitting!
