Horizon Line Wrap
Like the flickering light of where the sea meets the sky, our Horizon Line Wrap is a natural beauty! This knitting pattern contrasts two wonderful plant-based yarns: our Cotton Pure and our Blackbird Linen. 100% organically grown cotton and 100% French linen, brought together in our Horizon Line Wrap Bundle!
You’ll knit your wrap the long way across, alternating between Cotton Pure and Blackbird Linen and carrying your yarn along the selvage as you stripe… No unnecessary ends to weave in!
The two yarns will switch prominence as you go, the stripes of Cotton Pure waning as the Blackbird Linen waxes. Once you reach the eponymous horizon line, the pattern reflects back on itself, creating a symmetrical series of oscillating stripes.
A super fun and satisfying step gets saved for the end, when you add the dramatic fringe. Our easy instructions will help you create neat, even tassels, synchronized with the ebbing and flowing stripes.
Explore the attractions of both these plant fibers: Cotton Pure with its gorgeous, soft hand and pleasing matte finish, and Blackbird Linen with its understated elegance and subtle luster. Together, these two yarns create a fabric that is cool and graceful.
Our 14 Horizon Line Wrap Bundles include both yarns and offer you tons of appealing color combinations to choose from, ranging from our sample’s zippy Blue Gale and Electric Blue to earthy neutrals and rich jewel tones.
When you’re next standing at the water’s edge in your beautiful Horizon Line Wrap, catching a warm breeze with a broad swath of splendor before you, you’ll be so glad you cast on!

CARRYING UP YARN
On right side rows, carry non-working yarn up the side of the wrap by holding it in front of the working yarn as you knit the first stitch of the row.
PATTERN
With Yarn A, cast on 428 stitches. We used a basic Long Tail Cast On.
(A little tip: When you’re casting on so many stitches, it helps to place a marker or piece of scrap yarn every 50 stitches, so if/ when you lose your place, you don’t have to start counting from the very beginning!)
Set Up Row (wrong side): Slip 1 (see Notes), purl to last stitch, slip 1.
Working in stockinette stitch (with a slip-stitch selvage on wrong-side rows)…
Row 1 (right side): Knit to end of row.
Row 2 (wrong side): Slip 1, purl to last stitch, slip 1.
Continuing in stockinette stitch, as established, work 4 more rows.
Join Yarn B, but do not cut Yarn A.
With Yarn B and carrying up Yarn A (see Notes), work 2 rows in pattern.

FRINGE
***Cut three 12-inch strands of Yarn A. With wrong side facing you, insert crochet hook into a selvage slip stitch at the tail end of a Yarn A stripe. Holding the strands together, fold them in half, and use a crochet hook to grab the folded midpoint through to the wrong side of the work, forming a loop. Pass the strand’s tails through the loop, and pull gently to tighten****.
Repeat from *** to **** 30 more times, placing fringe at each Yarn A slip stitch along same selvage of wrap. Repeat along the other selvage.
With Yarn B, repeat from *** to **** 26 times, placing fringe at each Yarn B selvage slip stitch. Repeat along the other selvage.
Trim all fringe to 5 inches, and you’re done!

Can I shorten this and also please suggest a good lighter weight yarn .
Hi Lee,
Thank you for writing in! You can definitely shorten this scarf by adjusting your cast on number. To do this with the currect gauge, you will want to multiply your desired width by 5.75 and this will give you your new cast on number. As far are lighter weight yarns, you may be interested in Santolina or Picnic cotton which are both fingering weight yarns. I hope this helps!
Happy knitting,
Gavriella
Is there a technique to keep the edges from rolling? I see that the rows begin and end with a “slip one” but your photos look like the edges are rolling.
Thanks for your help. Love that I can ask questions! Great customer service which is unusual these days.
Hi Laurel,
Thanks for reaching out! Because this project is knit mainly in stockinette stitch, there will always be a bit of a natural curl to the fabric. Once you block your project after finishing it, that should minimize the rolling significantly, but there will likely still be some due to the nature of the stitch pattern. If this bothers you, I’d recommend adding more of a border to the wrap! You can use a symmetrical stitch (like garter stitch, ribbing, seed stitch, etc.), and this will help prevent the edges from curling at all. Hope this helps!
All the best,
Lili
