    Join us for Knit Night! Gather around our shop table with other local fiber lovers, and knit whatever's on your needles, chat about all things knitting, and get to know each other. Come to our shop at 459 Broome Street on August 29th from 6-8pm... It's a free get together and all knitting levels are welcome!

  • Beginning Embroidery: Learn to Embroider Sampler
    Thursday, September 7 + 14, 6:30-8:30PM
    This beginner's hand embroidery workshop puts you on the path to stitching right away! Using our beautiful Learn to Embroider a Sampler Kit as a guide, we'll cover the basics of embroidery, including a great variety of hand embroidery stitches and techniques.

  • Beginning Machine Sewing I: Easy Tote
    Sunday, September 10 + 17, 12-3PM
    Beginning Machine Sewing unravels the mysteries of the sewing machine! In the process of making an impressively polished Easy Tote, students will acquaint themselves with the whole machine sewing process, from cutting fabric to backstitching, all in just two 3-hour classes!

  • Beginning Crochet I: Granny Squares Blanket
    Sunday, September 10 + 17, 3-6PM
    Start your crochet journey with its most classic motif, the granny square! Mastering it puts the crochet basics under your belt and prepares you to make your very first granny square blanket! Go from novice to budding crochet enthusiast in these two 3-hour classes.

  • Beginning Knitting I: Learn-to-Knit Scarf
    Tuesday, September 12, 19 + 26, 6:30-8:30PM
    Go from novice to knitter in this 3-session class! Along the way, you will discover the fun and fascination of knitting, while creating your very own hand knit scarf.

  • Beginning Tapestry Weaving
    Saturday, September 16, 12-3PM
    Simple, portable, affordable, and fun, weaving on a tapestry loom is a wonderful place to start your weaving journey! Students will leave this three-hour demonstration workshop with an understanding of how to create a beautiful hand-woven textile and with the confidence to continue to explore the fascinating art of tapestry weaving.

  • Beginning Loom Weaving I: Rigid Heddle Loom
    Saturday, September 30, 12-3PM
    This one-day workshop covers the ins and outs of using a rigid heddle loom. Through demonstrations, as well as hands-on practice, you will leave with an understanding of how to create a beautiful hand-woven textile and with the confidence to continue to explore the incredible art of weaving!

  • Denyse Schmidt's A Different Stripe Quilt Workshop
    Saturday, November 4, 10-4PM
    Denyse Schmidt is a reknowned quilt designer and a great friend of Purl Soho! She is especially loved for her colorful and improvisational approach. Based on traditional designs, her quilts always have a distinctly modern look and spirit of creativity and fun. Learn how she does it at this special hands-on day of sewing and learning. Denyse will share her techniques and methods while you improvise your own version of her Different Stripe Quilt. Learn to trust your intuition, build your creative confidence, and streamline your patchwork process!

  • UPCOMING - Beginning Needlepoint
    Learn a wonderful new craft with our Beginning Needlepoint workshop! In class, you will make the smallest trivet in our set of Graphic Needlepoint Trivets, all while learning the basic foundation of almost all needlepoint stitches: the simple straight stitch. You will also learn how to sew a backing, make bias tape, and bind it all together... And you will have a beautiful trivet after just two 2-hour classes!
