When your pattern calls for buttons in a size unfamiliar to you or you’re wondering if you can sub one button for another, our Button Conversion Chart comes in handy! All buttons are measured by diameter, but the units of measure varies from place to place. Many US patterns call for buttons in inches, while the entire metric world uses millimeters… And then there’s ligne! Pronounced “leen-ya” or “leen” and abbreviated as L, ligne is an old French unit of measurement that is still used for buttons. When in doubt, use our Button Conversion Chart to compare and convert inches, millimeters, and ligne button sizes, and shop our collection of beautiful buttons to find just the right size!
