Continue ShoppingLittle Tassels Wrap
Knit a beautifully artistic swath of fabric edged with yarn tassels, like bitty bursts of joy! Our free Little Tassels Wrap pattern puts on display our new Sketchbook Cotton, an expressive cotton yarn with a subtle thick-and-thin texture and a lovely, lived-in feel… Thoughtfully crafted and full of creative possibility!

Worked in seed stitch, this wrap asks for only the basics: knits, purls, and a yarn that carries the quiet beauty of handmade love! After knitting a simple rectangle, narrower for a scarf and wider for a wrap like this one, you’ll dot each long edge with darling little tassels. No special tools required, just our easy tutorial and the delight of crafting each one by hand.

Sketchbook Cotton knits up into a complex, character-rich seed stitch fabric, its rustic, slightly slubby strand creating fascinating surface detail. Made in Japan, this sport- to DK-weight yarn is spun from velvety cotton, its 2-ply structure allowing the yarn to bloom and relax when it’s machine-washed and dried. It’s the summer yarn you’ll reach for all year round… Soft and comforting yet cool and light, and a delight to knit with, too!

Choose from a dozen beautiful colors spanning nature’s diverse spectrum, including tweed-y marls and captivating solids like the zesty Yuzu Yellow we used for our wrap. An appealing matte finish gives every shade a grounded, natural beauty, like pastel on paper.

Pick your favorite color of Sketchbook Cotton and cast on for the Little Tassels Wrap. With its effortless stitches and playful tassels to look forward to, this pattern invites you to wrap yourself in joyful creativity!

NOTES
STITCH MULTIPLE
This pattern is worked over an odd number of stitches.
PATTERN
With Main Color, cast on 51 (89) stitches. We used a basic Long Tail Cast On.
NOTE: Mark first row with scrap yarn or removable marker to indicate wrong side.
Row 1: *K1, p1, repeat from * to last stitch, k1.
Repeat Row 1 until piece measures 75 inches from cast-on edge, ending with a wrong-side row.
Bind off in pattern, knitting the knit stitches and purling the purl stitches.
FINISHING
Weave in the ends and gently wet block, or machine wash and dry on a gentle cycle for a denser, softer fabric (we did this for our sample!).
TINY ATTACHED TASSELS
Orient piece with right side facing you and one of the selvages at the top.
*Place a removable stitch marker or piece of scrap yarn at top right corner and every 1½ inches along top selvage to top left corner, to indicate tassel placement. [46 markers placed]
Cut 46 one-yard lengths of Contrast Color.
Starting at top right corner, follow our Tiny Attached Tassel Tutorial to make a tassel at each marker along the top selvage. We made each of our tassels with six, 2-inch long loops. [46 tassels]
Rotate piece 180 degrees so other selvage is at top, and repeat for other selvage. [92 total tassels]
Trim all tassels to 1¼ inches, and you’re done!
