Wigeon

Wigeon

100% fine Falkland merino, Wigeon is as hardy as its birthplace but soft and cozy enough for the less rugged among us. Named for the Chiloé Wigeon, a duck indigenous to the area, we celebrate this yarn's origins and beauty! Hundreds of miles off the tip of South America, the Falkland Islands' isolation and climate is well suited for merino sheep, freeing them from diseases and pests, as well as the chemicals used to treat those things. Falkland merino is known for its pure white color, which takes dye beautifully, and for its incredible smoothness and body! Milled in Italy, Wigeon is a classic sport-weight yarn with three even plies, giving it excellent stitch definition and a very satisfying resilience. Although we no longer sell Wigeon, we do have lots of great substitutes that are available and in stock. Check out our yarns with similar gauge and fiber!
