Hundreds of miles off the tip of South America, the Falkland Islands are endowed with a climate specially suited for sheep. Long appreciated for the natural coloring and lovely hand of their wool, Falkland Island sheep provide us with the fiber for lovely Wigeon. One hundred percent fine Falkland merino, Wigeon is as hardy as its birthplace but soft and cozy enough for the less rugged among us. Named for the Chiloé Wigeon, a duck indigenous to the area, we celebrate this yarn's origins and beauty! Wigeon is a classic sportweight with excellent stitch definition. It is milled and dyed in Italy in fifteen solid colors, from soft Gray Mist to punchy Bright Iris. Use your favorites for everything from mittens and hats to blankets and sweaters!
