Santolina is a wonderfully wild mix of 70% organically grown cotton, 20% rayon from bamboo, and 10% hemp, each fiber contributing something special! Cotton forms the strong heart of Santolina, durable but super soft, while the hemp lends a hearty character and a slightly rustic texture. As smooth and shiny as silk, the bamboo adds a lustrous finish. Each of these fibers takes the dye a bit differently, giving Santolina's palette a gently heathered appearance. Knit up, this yarn has the lovely drape you would expect from plant fibers, but its relatively loose spin makes it surprisingly airy as well. In 100-gram, 328-yard skeins, Santolina is a machine wash- and dryable, two-ply fingering weight, best knit on US 2 or 3 (3 or 3.25 mm) needles. Named for the feathery soft leaves of the Santolina plant, Santolina's velvety touch makes it perfect for all things baby, as well as three-season accessories, beautiful sweaters, and heirloom blankets!
