This Paper Ribbon Yarn comes from Mino, a city in the middle of Japan where the traditional Japanese paper, Washi, has been made for 1,300 years. Although not hand-made like the historic paper of the region, this yarn comes from the same local raw materials and shares its characteristic soft and delicate fineness. Its subtle luster and dry hand feel are similar to linen, and its flat ribbon structure is a lot like our Handwritten cotton yarn. We weren't able to add Paper Ribbon Yarn to our collection because it was too delicate to gaurantee fewer than 5 knots per kilo, which is our standard. You may, therefore, encounter some knots, but this yarn is defintitely sturdy enough to knit! It is a very special choice for truly beautiful gossamer shawls and scarves, wraps and cowls... Try pulling two colors together, like we did for our Open Air Wrap in Handwritten!
