Designed by Julie Hoover, Dern is a comfy cardigan that is knit mostly in stockinette stitch. Worked bottom up and flat in pieces, this pattern includes a ribbed collar and center front facings that are folded to the inside of the cardigan and sewn. Julie designed Dern in our Hedgerow, a beautiful mix of 93% merino, 3.5% cashmere, and 3.5% mulberry silk. Made in County Donegal, Ireland, Hedgerow has colorful bits (“burrs” or “nebs”) spun into the fiber, creating a traditional tweed and fascination in every stitch!

MATERIALS
- 7 (8, 9, 9, 10, 11, 12, 12) skeins of Purl Soho’s Hedgerow, 93% merino, 3.5% cashmere, and 3.5% mulberry silk. Each skein is 243 yards/ 100 grams; approximately 1700 (1830, 2020, 2170, 2340, 2485, 2760, 2915) yards required. Julie used the color Woodpile Gray.

- US 7 (4.5 mm), 24-inch circular needles
- US 6 (4.0 mm), 24-inch circular needles
- Locking markers or coilless safety pins
- Stitch holders or scrap yarn
- Small amount of laceweight yarn in a similar color for sewing facings
- Blocking wires + T-pins (optional but recommended)
