Nick Cave: Until, a play on the phrase “innocent until proven guilty,” is a retrospective look at Cave’s 2016 art exhibition at MASS MoCA. Filling a football-sized gallery with everyday found objects, Cave queried: “I had been thinking about gun violence and racism colliding, and then I wondered: Is there racism in heaven?” Weaving a dense tapestry of immersive art, transcripts of public debate and engagement that coincided with the exhibit accompany the book’s illustrations. Curated by Denise Markonish, Nick Cave: Until is a generously illustrated 192-page hardcover reference, featuring commentary by musician David Byrne and Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
