  • Finished Dimensions: 6 (8) inches wide x 63 (80) inches long, with instructions to modify (see Note)
  • Pocket Depth: 6½ (9) inches

Want to adjust the length of your scarf? See below for an easy guide, keeping in mind that a longer scarf will require more Color B, and a shorter scarf may require less!

For pockets that hit around the natural waist, knit with Color B until the piece measures approximately the same height as the intended wearer from the cast-on edge. Our Small scarf is 63 inches long and is worn by a 5’2” (62-inch) person.

For pockets that hit at or below the hips, knit with Color B until the piece measures 13-15 inches longer than the height of the intended wearer from cast-on edge. Our Large scarf is 80 inches long and is worn by a 5’7” (67-inch) model.

With Color A and leaving a 2-foot tail, cast on 26 (34) stitches. We used a basic Long Tail Cast On.

NOTE: Mark the first row with scrap yarn or removable marker to indicate the right side.

Knit every row until piece measures 13 (18) inches, ending with a wrong-side row.

Cut Color A.

With right side facing you, join Color B and knit every row until piece measures 63 (80) inches from cast-on edge, or to desired length (see Note), ending with a wrong-side row.

Cut Color B.

With right side facing you, join Color A and knit every row for 13 (18) inches, ending with a right-side row.

Bind off knitwise on wrong side, leaving a 2-foot tail.

With right side facing you, fold up one end of the scarf so that the cast-on (or bind-off) edge aligns with the last row of Color A, creating a pocket. Seam the vertical edges together, using the long tail for one side and a new length of yarn for the other. For tips, visit our Seaming Garter Stitch Tutorial.

Repeat at the other end for other pocket.

Weave in the ends and gently wet block.
