  • UPCOMING - Sashiko Workhop with Atsushi Futatsuya
    Join third generation Sashiko artist Atsushi Futatsuya in this very special day-long workshop that covers the breathtaking tradition of Sashiko embroidery. Immerse yourself in the rich history of this meditative art, learning the ins and outs of Sashiko with hands-on instruction from our honored guest, Atsushi. This workshop includes all the materials you'll need to complete an indigo printed pattern (which you can later turn into a tote bag, a pillow, a wall hanging, or whatever you like!). This full day of learning includes a break to explore our favorite lunch spots. Join us for a lovely day of stitching!

  • Intermediate Knitting: Traveling Cable Hat

    Although cables may look complicated, they're surprisingly easy... and very satisfying! Our Traveling Cable Hat presents the perfect opportunity to hone your cable skills. Learn everything you need to know to make your own in just two two-hour classes!

  • Beginning Loom Weaving: Rigid Heddle
    Sunday, March 3, 1-4PM
    This one-day workshop covers the ins and outs of using a rigid heddle loom. Through demonstrations, as well as hands-on practice, you will leave with an understanding of how to create a beautiful hand-woven textile and with the confidence to continue to explore the incredible art of weaving!

  • Intermediate Knitting: Sweater Fundamentals
    Thursday, March 7 and 14, 5-7PM
    Learn what you need to know to knit a sweater! In this two-session class, we will discuss choosing a pattern, the yarn to go with it, and the right size to knit. You will learn about reading schematics, knitting and measuring a gauge swatch, blocking, and finishing. The first step will be choosing a sweater from a selection of Purl Soho Patterns and then purchasing the yarn to begin swatching. Each participant will knit a gauge swatch and will have the opportunity to ask all about fit, construction, and technique. In the end, you will have gained the confidence to knit an entire sweater and the skills to make one you actually want to wear! 

  • Beginning Machine Sewing: Easy Tote
    Sunday, March 10 and 17, 1-4PM
    Beginning Machine Sewing unravels the mysteries of the sewing machine! In the process of making an impressively polished Easy Tote, students will acquaint themselves with the whole machine sewing process, from cutting fabric to backstitching, all in just two 3-hour classes!

  • Beginning Embroidery: Learn to Embroider Mini Sampler
    Friday, March 15, 5-7PM
    This beginner's hand embroidery workshop puts you on the path to stitching right away! Using our beautiful Mini Sampler Kit, we'll cover the basics of embroidery, including all the stitches used in our Leaf, Herringbone, and Criss Cross Patterns. Every student will receive a Mini Sampler Kit in the color of his or her choice, so just bring yourself... no supplies required!

  • Beginning Knitting I: Learn-to-Knit Scarf
    Saturday, March 16, 23, and 30, 4-6PM
    Go from novice to knitter in this 3-session class! Along the way, you will discover the fun and fascination of knitting, while creating your very own hand knit scarf.

  • Rug Hooking Workshop with Rose Pearlman
    Sunday, March 24, 12-3PM
    Learn the fundamentals of punch-needle rug hooking with Rose Pearlman! Using her beautiful Object-Art Rug Hooking Kit, Rose walks you through this traditional technique in one three-hour class. You'll learn all the special skills and creative possibilities of punch-needle rug hooking, creating your own designs or using Rose's templates. Each student will receive one of Rose's Kits, which includes 6 beautifully hand dyed yarns, a wooden frame with pre-stretched monks cloth, a punch needle, optional templates for design inspiration, a complete set of illustrated instructions, and a silk screened cotton pouch for easy storage (all included in the price of the class!).

  • Beginning Machine Sewing: Kid's Skirt + Shorts
    Saturday, April 6, 10-4PM
    We're so excited to host former Purl Soho-designers Molly Schnick and Corinne Gill and their new Beginning Machine Sewing class! In just 6 hours you will learn all the steps of sewing a simple child's skirt or pair of shorts from start to finish, using Molly and Corinne's adorable Paper Bag Play Skirt Pattern from their company Fair Play Projects. Even if you've never sewn before, you will leave this class proud of your first finished garment and equipped to make many more! The pattern will be free for class participants, and it comes in sizes 2-10. A full day of wonderful learning from wonderful teachers, plus a midday break to explore neighborhood lunch spots... Please join us!

  • Beginning Crochet: Granny Square Blanket

    Start your crochet journey with its most classic motif, the granny square! Mastering it puts the crochet basics under your belt and prepares you to make your very first granny square blanket! Go from novice to budding crochet enthusiast in these two 3-hour classes.
