A tribute to a beautiful Shetland woodland, this shawl uses a traditional lace motif to depict a copse of trees. The triangular shape grows from a single stitch. The stitches are left live along the long edge while yarn-over loops are picked up along the other two edges to anchor the lace edging, which is worked sideways. Halligarth can be worked as a shawlette or as a more traditional large shawl. Finished dimensions: 51 (63) inches wingspan and 27.25 (33.5) inches height at center spine. You will need 3 (5) skeins of Brooklyn Tweed's Loft. You will also need US #6, 32-inch circular needles (OR size needed to obtain gauge), as well as 40-inch needles one size larger than gauge needle. Gauge is 20 stitches per 4 inches. Shown here in the color Tent.
