Back by popular demand!
Last winter, The City Bakery opened its doors to the knitters of New York in celebration of their 18th Annual Hot Chocolate Festival (After all, what goes better with hot chocolate than knitting on a cold, wintery night?). Six local shops participated; there were workshops, demonstrations, give-aways and, needless to say, amazing food. The evening was such a success that The City Bakery, inundated with enthusiastic requests for another night of knitting, has decided to do it all again! This year’s theme: Night of Knitting on the Rocks.
The event will be at The City Bakery, located at 3 West 18th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues on Thursday, March 31st. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets cost $45 and include an all you can eat delicious dinner and dessert, all you can drink cocktails and hot chocolate as well as knitting expertise from New York’s finest knit shops. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Brown Paper Tickets (seating is limited and tickets are going fast so we recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time and coming as early as you can).
Here’s a sneak peek from The City Bakery of some of the incredible cocktails that will be served at the event:
– Knit One: Pear Honey Martini
– Purl Two: Three Red Fruit Cosmopolitan
There will be knitting workshops and demonstrations hosted by five of New York City’s knitting shops:
– Beginner Knitting with Purl Soho
– Beginner Knitting with Wool and the Gang
– Doughknit from Brooklyn General and Mochimochi Land
– Spinning with Downtown Yarns
– Blankets for charity with Knitty City
Please note, all shops will have materials available to purchase the night of the event.
There will also be a knitting contest: Knit your favorite food or drink from The City Bakery. Participants can drop off their creations starting on the 29th through the evening of the event. One representative from each yarn shop will judge the contest. 1st place wins a $100 gift certificate to The City Bakery plus surprise knitting goodies. 2nd place wins $50 gift certificate to The City Bakery. Just two weeks to scheme up and stitch a delicious knitted treat. Better get to it…
See you there! –Purl Soho
